London, the largest city and capital of United Kingdom which is also amongst the oldest of the world’s great cities with having the history spanning of nearly two millennia (2000 years). London is located on Thames river in the South-eastern England.
By far it is Britain’s largest metropolis and centre of the transportation, culture and economy.
Today, “London” usually refers to the area known as Greater London which is also the London region of England. Greater London covers an area of 607 square miles or 1,572 km² which makes it one of the world’s largest cities by area. Londoners generally refer to the City of London simply as “The City” or the “Square Mile”.
